About the Item
The catalogue was produced to market Wright's Eames design auction on April 8, 2010. The catalogue captures the spirit of playfulness for which the Eames are renowned. Integrating House Industries' Eames Century Modern font family, and the historic photographs from the Neuhart Archive, the catalogue serves as an homage to the Eames' lifetime of work, and Wright's tenth anniversary selling Eames designs at auction. 144 pages.
The Work of Charles and Ray Eames has been a touchstone throughout my career. I purchased my first piece of Eames Design in 1986, the first year i discovered this business. It was a rocker produced in 1950 by Herman Miller. The piece is emblematic of the best qualities of the Eames' work. It is created from just three industrial materials: fiberglass, steel and wool. And what emerges is a functional seating form, a perfectly balanced sculpture and an expression of joy.
I curated my first auction of Eames Designs in 1999. The catalogue for the sale, magnificently designed by Sam Silvio was the first realization of what Wright would become. The sale was a huge success and it gave Julie and I the opportunity to start our own company. We have sold Eames' work ever since.
