About the Item

A five volume leather bound set titled "Beacon Lights of History" by John Lord published in New York in 1884 by Fords, Howard and Hulbert profiling various historical luminaries from the days of antiquity through the 18th century. This interesting work is bound in gilt tooled leather with marbleized boards and endpapers. John Lord was an American historian and lecturer born in 1810 who achieved a degree of fame for his series of lectures on world history through the ages. This set includes volumes on Antiquity, the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, Warriors and Statesmen and Great Women.
