The scarce Robert Riviere
Son edition of Jane Austen's works. An unsigned binding by Riviere, the green variant. Riviere was an English Bookbinder known for his attractive decorative bindings and high quality.
Complete in five volumes.

A lovely set of the influential and enduringly popular novels of Jane Austen.
Jane Austen has become one of the most popular Georgian writers, her novels being loved for generations. Her ironic social commentary offers an interesting insight into Upper-Middle class Georgian life.
This set includes all of Austen's beloved novels: 'Pride and Prejudice', 'Emma', 'Sense and Sensibility', 'Mansfield Park', 'Northanger Abbey', and 'Persuasion'.
Frontispieces are by C. E. Brock.
Condition
In a half calf binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, smart. Spines are faded. A little light rubbing and a few minor marks to the boards and spines. A few scattered spots to the endpapers and fore edges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean.
