About the Item

First edition, published by Høst Søns Forlag København, 1954 An important document of Danish chair design during the early 1950s, showing many of the aesthetic and technological developments coming out of Denmark during the period. The use of traditional joinery and weaving with more contemporary materials such as bent plywood, fused the accessibility of modernism with the ethos of the handmade. Included in the book are designs from Poul Kjaerholm, Arne Jacobsen, Hans J. Wegner, Finn Juhl and many more.
