About the Item
A rare and unusual English burl walnut brass mounted book safe of unusually fine quality containing 2 leather bound volumes marketed by Asprey
Company, England. I have never seen a similar item in my 40 years doing business. The brass mounts are beautifully engraved and the burl wood is simply lovely. Retains its original key. Spring mechanism works well. Loss to bottom tab of 1 volume as shown in images. Fantastic item for the antiquarian book lover! Circa 1880.
