About the Item
Décors éphémères: Les Expositions Jeux d'Eau et de Lumière (Ephemeral decorations: water and light games exhibitions), French book by André Granet, original edition 1948, Preface by Prince Louis Victor de Broglie.
The Grand Palais, near the Champs-Élysées in Paris, has rooms with incredibly ornate interiors, erected between 1909 and 1948 to host automotive and other trade shows. The splendor of these temporary sets was a direct expression of a gloriously progressive Paris, married with the work of the French architect André Granet (1881–1974).
In 1948, Granet's work was documented in a large-format book. This book has been out of print for a long time.
Décors Éphémères contains photographs of Granet's installations and lighting designs, as well as his illuminations for the Eiffel Tower and the banks of the Seine. It is completed by outlines and sketches of his daring designs.
This book has 128 pages in French, 80 rotogravure plates by Chevojon and Borremans, a double-color plate featuring the Eiffel Tower, and a large number of designs (plans, architectural projects) for illustration.
Reproductions of photographs and some plans of Paris expositions and architectural monuments, including the Eiffel Tower, the Exposition des Arts et des Techniques de Paris (1937), the Exposition Coloniale de 1931, many expositions in the Grand Palais on the Champs Elysées, and preparations for the visit to Paris of King George and Queen Elizabeth in 1938.
This is a beautiful coffee table art book.

A scarce vintage book featuring the creations of the 20th century's top interior designers. It is now a decorating classic and is much sort after. The book's aim is to illustrate how to mix both traditional and contemporary elements in an interior. It does this through text and illustrations of an international selection of homes, owned and decorated by the likes of Francois Catroux, Valentino, David Mlinaric, David Hicks, Alberto Pinto, Charles...
