Eight volumes, large octavo. Limited to 124 numbered copies; this set No. 3.
Handsomely bound in full brown leather spines, elaborately gilt-tooled with ornamental devices and gilt lettering; decorative paper-covered boards with diagonal color panels; gilt top edges. Illustrated throughout with plates. A finely produced deluxe edition, issued for collectors rather than the trade.
This Venetian Edition represents the most desirable form of MacFall’s ambitious early-20th-century survey of Western painting. The strict limitation to 124 copies places it among the scarcer art-historical sets of the period, and low-numbered examples such as this (No. 3) are especially sought after.
Condition: A very good to excellent set. Bindings clean and uniform with bright gilt; spines firm; interiors fresh and well preserved. A particularly attractive survival.
A scarce, low-numbered deluxe art book set, combining scholarly interest with strong decorative appeal—well suited to a collector of fine press books or a distinguished library.
