Howard Walwyn Fine Antique Clocks Catalogue. London: Howard Walwyn, 2013. First edition soft cover. 56 pp. A catalogue published for the opening of Howard Walwyn's Kensington Church Street premises. The opening exhibition happened to coincide with the 300 anniversary of the death of Thomas Tompion, England's greatest clock maker. Clock's included an ebony striking table clock, a rare 30-hour pre-numbered Japanned long-case clock and a miniature striking lantern clock, all from Tompion's workshop. Other pieces included from the Golden Age are early ebony turntable spring clock by John Ebswart circa 1675, a Queen Anne ebony striking table clock and more.

The mechanism is marked "Vincenti et Cie, Médaille d'Argent 1855, Made in France." Vincenti et Cie, established in 1823 by Jean Vincenti in Montbéliard, was revitalized by Albert Roux in 1829, who expanded and innovated the company. Under Roux's leadership, the firm continued its Montbéliard operations and opened a store in Paris in 1850 on Rue d'Anjou in the Marais. The company earned a silver medal (Médaille d'Argent) at the 1855 Exposition Universelle, for which this clock bears the mark "Médaille d'Argent, 1855," symbolizing its excellent craftsmanship.
