This book is part of the Memories of Design collection by Assouline Publishing. Jean-Michel Frank, born 1895, was a true genius of 20th century decorative arts, designing furniture and interiors. In addition, he often collaborated with equally talent artisans, sculptors Alberto and Diego Giacometti, decorator and cabinet maker Adolphe Chanaux, and Cuban-born architect Emilio Terry, among others.
Between 1932 and 1940, Jean-Michel Frank completely renewed the decorative arts vocabulary. Working in Paris, New York, and South America, and inspired by neoclassicism, abstraction and primitive arts, he gave the 1930s an original style, whose elegance earned him the support of an elitist and fortunate clientele. The name Jean-Michel Frank has become a reference for collectors and dealers in 20th century antiques. The decorative principles that he elaborated are at the heart of the minimalist style that contemporary decorators cherish. 80 pages. 360grams.
