Fleming, Ian. Complete James Bond Set. Shelton, CT: First Edition Library, n.d [c.1980s]. Published by The First Edition Library (F.E.L.), an imprint of The Easton Press, this is a complete, matching, 14-volume set of every James Bond book. This rare, out-of-print collection includes exact facsimiles of the UK Jonathon Cape original hardcover first editions. Each book is housed in a decorative slipcase. Aside from the original first editions, which are exceedingly expensive and extremely hard to acquire, The First Edition Library 14-volume set is the most collectible complete set ever published. Each book is an exact replica of the original first edition, with faithful matching of size, typography, and dust jacket artwork. Fleming’s suspenseful series of 14 novels about the British fictional spy James Bond, known by his code 007, begins with Casino Royale in 1953 and ends, upon Fleming’s death, with Octopussy in 1964. Fleming’s work for the British Naval Intelligence provided the background for his spy novels. Set includes: Casino Royale, Live and Let Die, Moonraker, Diamonds are Forever, From Russia With Love, Dr. No, Goldfinger, For Your Eyes Only, Thunderball, The Spy Who Loved Me, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, You Only Live Twice, The Man With The Golden Gun, and Octopussy. Ian Fleming (1908–1964) was an intelligence officer, journalist, and creator of the fictional British Secret service agent James Bond. Beginning in 1939 he served as a liaison between the Navy and the other secret services, where he was privy to the highest levels of intelligence and became known for his creativity in planning operations, work that inspired his later novels. After the war, Fleming became a journalist and in 1953 published his first James Bond novel, Casino Royale. It was a success, and Fleming wrote a new book each year until his untimely death in 1964. Condition: This F.E.L. set of James Bond novels is in very good condition, protected with grey hardcover slipcases for each book. 14 Vols. Octavo. Endpapers are like the original Jonathan Cape editions- white endpapers for earlier books, red endpapers for The Spy Who Loved Me, light tan wood endpapers for You Only Live Twice, light green endpapers to The Man With The Golden Gun, light grey endpapers to Octopussy and Living Daylights. Black board with gilt spine lettering and gilt designs to some of the front boards. Illustrated dust jackets and slipcases. Casino Royale is missing a dust jacket, but has its slipcase. Slipcase for Octopussy has some toning. Internally, all books are clean. Pages show no signs of tears or foxing marks.
