About the Item
Important Latin manuscript in quarto format on moral theology, titled “Tractatus moralis de actibus humanis” – A Moral Treatise on Human Acts.
Written in brown ink on laid paper, probably in the late 17th or early 18th century, this work develops, in the scholastic tradition, a detailed reflection on the moral value of human actions, natural and divine law, and the principles of free will.
The text follows the scholastic structure of disputationes and articuli, typical of theological teaching in seminaries and universities.
It includes sections such as:
– Disputatio prima de actibus humanorum (on the nature of human acts)
– Disputatio secunda de definitione legis (on the definition of law)
– Tractatus moralis de paenitentia sacro (on the sacrament of penance)
These parts address the central themes of Christian moral thought: individual responsibility, the distinction between good and evil, freedom of the will, and the sacrament of reconciliation.
Preserved in its original soft binding, in parchment or thick paper, the manuscript displays a fine, regular hand, typical of theological works produced by clerics or students in the 17th–18th centuries.
