About the Item

L'Illustration was started as a newspaper by Edouard Charton in Paris on March 4th, 1843. It was the first illustrated newspaper in the country and the first to use photographs. Following 1906 L'Illustration became the first international illustrated magazine to be distributed worldwide. The numerous news stories of the day were published with spectacular illustrations and photographs. This collection contains many of the articles along with fabulous color illustrations and photographs covering the events happening throughout the world. A collection for Francophioles 🇫🇷
