DESCRIPTION: ALL FIRST EDITIONS. 8 vols., 9-3/8" x 6-1/2", colour frontispiece to volume VIII, illustrated with numerous maps, half-tone illustrations, and fold-out plates, bound in 1/2 red morocco, ribbed gilt decorated spines, gilt lion to center panels, top edges gilt. CONDITION: Internally clean and bright, inner and outer hinges fine, head and foot of spines fine, a VERY GOOD set seldom encountered in a fine binding. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: A complete set of the Life of Winston Churchill, the first two volumes are by Randolph S. Churchill, continued after his death in 1968 by Martin Gilbert, a researcher for Randolph Churchill who was then appointed official biographer.
