Martyn Green's Treasury of Gilbert and Sullivan by Martyn Green. Simon
Shuster, New York, 1961. Stated 1st printing hardcover with Gaylord dust jacket. William Martyn-Green, better known as Martyn Green, was an English actor and singer. He is best known for his work as principal comedian in the Gilbert
Sullivan comic operas, which he performed and recorded with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company and other troupes. This book contains the complete W. S. Gilbert librettos of all eleven of the major operettas, together with his 'Bab' ballads. It also contains more than a 100 favorite songs from the operettas, arranged for piano and voice by Dr. Albert Sirmay and carefully adapted with amateurs in mind. He also comments on the history of the operettas and notes on how to stage and perform them. With eleven full color, full page illustrations, one for each operetta showing every character plus many black and white drawings for each of the individual songs.
