Modern Danish Furniture is the third volume of a series of books on modern Danish applied art. This volume, like the earlier ones, is edited by the Danish architect Esbjorn Hiort, M.A.A., who has written the introduction. While Danish silver and Danish ceramics have long been well known and in great demand in foreign countries - especially among collectors - it has only been during the past ten years or so that Danish furniture has gained an international reputation. In his introduction, the author describes the modern development in this field, explains the reasons for the high artistic and technical standard of Danish furniture, and points out the characteristic details of the work of the leading Danish furniture designers. In the picture section there are numerous illustrations of unique pieces of the cabinet-maker's art as well as of fine examples of Danish commercial furniture. 135 pages. 790 grams.
