First edition of this comprehensive monograph on acclaimed Italian architect and designer Osvaldo Borsani (1911-1985), tracing his career and oeuvre from early works in an Italian Art Deco idiom to more surrealist and abstract forms in the 1940’s to the founding, along with his brother, of the iconic mid-century modern design firm Tecno S.P.A. in 1953, for which he remained the sole designer for a period of about 30 years. Showcases his commercial product designs, custom interior design projects and architecture. Published in 1992 by Leonardo-De Luca Editore in Roma. Written and edited by Giuliana Gramigna and Fulvio Irace a preface by Marco Fantoni. Text in Italian. Large 4to (9.75 × 12.5”), hardcover with photographic book jacket, 377 pages, color and b/w illustrations throughout. Biography and chronology at the rear. Illustrations include sketches, diagrams, renderings, period and contemporary in situ photographs, advertising materials, and catalog images. An essential reference work for this towering figure in twentieth century design whose career mediated artisan culture and serial production technologies.
