Lynn Chadwick: the Collection at Lypiatt Park by Judith Collins (Book)
Located in North Yorkshire, GB
Situated on the Brow of a commanding hill, Lypiatt Park, Gloucestershire, the historic manor house and grounds purchased by Lynn Chadwick in 1958, has had a distinguished history. During its long life, it has seen periods of great activity and long periods of neglect. The setting is dramatic, and geographic formations indicate that it may have been inhabited as early as prehistoric times.
Chadwick made this enchanted site both his home and his studio, and it served as a stimulating backdrop for his work. He lovingly restored the house and garden. and in 1986 he bought the surrounding parkland. In the last few years of his life he dreamed of opening the grounds to the public as a sculpture park, and began to site some of his large sculptures along the grassy banks of Toadsmoor Valley.
Lynn Chadwick: The collection at Lypiatt Park is an exquisite exploration of those sculptures Chadwick housed iin the gothic castle he called home until his death at the age of 88 in 2003. David Finn...

Baryshnikov in Back and White by Mikhail Baryshnikov Collectible Art Book
Located in Moreno Valley, CA
Baryshnikov in Back and White By Mikhail Baryshnikov Collectible Art Book.
The only collection of photographs documenting the last three decades of Mikhail Baryshnikov's brilliant career. Universally acknowledged as the most celebrated artist in the dance world ( Time magazine proclaimed him 'the greatest living dancer') Mikhail Baryshnikov's defection from the Soviet Union in 1974, at the age of twenty-six, breathed new artistic freedom into an already astonishing career. Working with American Ballet Theatre (where he was Artistic Director for ten years), the New York City Ballet (with George Ballanchine), and finally forming his own company in 1990 with Mark Morris, White Oak Dance Project, Baryshnikov has, over these past decades, changed the face of dance. Baryshnikov in Black and White presents, in over 175 photographs, the remarkable breadth of his achievement between the years 1974 and 2000. From his legendary roles in the classic ballets Giselle and Don Quixote , to his work with some of the world's greatest contemporary choreographers, Baryshnikov is shown here in both rehearsal and performance. Captured by the leading dance photographers, his vitality and genius are evident on every page. With an inspired and richly detailed essay by the New Yorker dance critic (and Baryshnikov biographer) Joan Acocella, a complete chronology of his roles, and extensive annotated captions, Baryshnikov in Black and White is the definitive book on his remarkable career in the West.
From the moment of his first, spectacular North American appearance--in 1974, at the age of 26--Mikhail Baryshnikov was viewed as one of ballet's great virtuosos. But few could guess that his experimental spirit would lead him from princely roles in the classics to trailblazing collaborations with modern dance choreographers. Baryshnikov in Black and White reveals key moments of the dancer's artistic evolution from 1974 to 2000 in more than 175 starkly expressive black-and-white photographs. Glimpses of performances with American Ballet Theatre, New York City Ballet, and the White Oak Dance Project join a few well-chosen studio rehearsal shots. They demonstrate Baryshnikov's enormous range, from the classical purity of Apollo to the improvisational HeartBeat: mb, from partnering Natalia Makarova...

Decorating with Carpets A Fine Foundation Book by Heather MacIsaac

Decorating with Carpets
A Fine Foundation
By: Ashley Stark Kenner and Chad Stark
with Heather MacIsaac
In decoration, a carpet’s influence is never outsized. In fact, more than any other element of a room, and as the largest and most expensive component of any design scheme, the effect a carpet has on a space is every bit as great as its size. Decorators have long recognized the importance of a fine carpet, its impact on the colors and textures of a space, its contribution to creating an atmosphere, its feel of luxury, and, with the best examples, its lasting value. Despite their essential role as the bedrock of any design scheme, beautiful carpets have lived in the shadows of recognition. Decorating with Carpets: A Fine Foundation aims to change that oversight, tapping the extensive and remarkable archive of Stark Carpet for interior design’s greatest examples. Over the course of its 75 years, Stark Carpet, the premier purveyor of carpets to the trade in the country, has worked with the each era’s most notable designers, from Billy Baldwin and Dorothy Draper to Sister Parish and Albert Hadley to Mark Hampton and Mario Buatta to contemporary leading lights such as Diamond Baratta, Victoria Hagan, Katie Ridder, and Stephen Gambrel...
