Modern Danish Furniture by Esbjorn Hiort (Book)
Located in North Yorkshire, GB
Modern Danish Furniture is the third volume of a series of books on modern Danish applied art. This volume, like the earlier ones, is edited by the Danish architect Esbjorn Hiort, M.A.A., who has written the introduction. While Danish silver and Danish ceramics have long been well known and in great demand in foreign countries - especially among collectors - it has only been during the past ten years or so that Danish furniture has gained an international reputation. In his introduction, the author describes the modern development in this field, explains the reasons for the high artistic and technical standard of Danish furniture, and points out the characteristic details of the work of the leading Danish furniture designers. In the picture section there are numerous illustrations of unique pieces of the cabinet-maker's art as well as of fine examples of Danish commercial furniture...

Kohn Pedersen Fox: Architecture
Urbanism, 1993-2002 by Ian Luna, 1st Ed Thus
Located in valatie, NY
Kohn Pedersen Fox: Architecture and Urbanism, 1993-2002 by Ian Luna and Kenneth Powell. Published by Rizzoli, 2003. 1st Ed hardcover with dust jacket. The fourth volume in a series of monographs celebrating the innovative architectural designs of the highly esteemed international firm. KPF initially distinguished itself through its attention to the most characteristic American building type, the skyscraper. The evolution of the tall tower is a key part of a sustainable paradigm in which individual buildings form part of a larger system of vertical centers linked by horizontal networks of public transportation. These "vertical cities" represent a sustainable model for future development where public transport is encouraged, land is conserved, and energy and water uses are reduced. KPF leads the way, creating enduring architecture with contextual sensitivity, flexibility of use, and care for the environment. KPF has achieved international stature, becoming the first firm to be a member of the United Nations Global Compact. This, the fourth volume of their work, explores their recent buildings in detail. The projects include buildings that have transformed the urban fabric...
