Dutch Language, but easy to read with google translate on a phone. Since its founding in 1602, the Dutch East India Company has grown into the world’s largest trading company. The VOC dominated trade between Europe and Asia for two centuries. What is less known is that the Company built up an even more extensive trade network within Asia, stretching from Yemen to Japan. The VOC even partly financed European trade with proceeds in Asia. Yet the Asian VOC company has never been studied or described to its full extent. Koopman in Asia puts an end to that gap. The book was Published by: Davidsfonds, Leuven, 2013. Accompanied by a personal note to Herbert Kasper from Thomas Leysen. Leysen was the Chairman of KBC Group between 2011-2020 and wrote the foreword to this book. The KBC, is a banking and insurance group with activities mainly in Belgium, Central Europe and Ireland. Herbert Kasper was an American fashion designer known as "Kasper." He studied English and advertising at New York University and fashion at The Parsons School of Design in New York from 1951–53 and l'Ecole de la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne in 1953. He left NYU to serve in the US Army in Europe. After WW II he enrolled at Parsons, where he became a protégé of milliner Fred Frederics. After graduating, he returned to Paris for two years developing his skills in design while working for Jacques Fath, Christian Dior, and Marcel Rochas. When he returned to the US, he worked for Frederics at Mr. John. He was an avid art collector with a famous art collection, and in 2011, the Morgan Library and Museum devoted an exhibition, called “Mannerism and Modernism: The Kasper Collection of Drawings...
