About the Item
A beautiful book produced by Franco Maria Ricci in a limited edition of only 6,000, this being number 1547. With black silk covers and a presentation clam shell box, 209 pages with text in English, French and Italian and illustrated throughout with drawings by Gruau. René Gruau was probably the most famous fashion illustrator of the 20th century, working with many of the great designers of that period such as Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Balmain, Paquin and Lelong. It was probably his association with Dior that he was best known and continued working with the company and producing many of their most famous advertising sketches and drawings. He also worked for many magazines including Elle, Vogue, Harpers Bazaar and Flair.
