Uncle of Europe by Gordon Brook-Shepherd. Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, New York, 1975. Stated 1st Ed hardcover with dust jacket. "Edward VII, succeeded his mother, Queen Victoria, to the throne in 1901. He is regarded as the 'most genial bon vivant and uninhibited rake' to occupy the British throne." As king, Edward's main interests lay in the fields of foreign affairs and naval and military matters. Fluent in French and German, he reinvented royal diplomacy by numerous state visits across Europe.
