About the Item
Up for sale is a wonderful original antique/vintage Austrian/Viennese solid .935 silver and black enamel minaudiere vanity purse case dating from the 1920's. Made in Austria. Very high end piece and well made. Wonderful engraving and enamel work. The case has the original tassel and lipstick holder. Minaudiere has a perfume inside it, place to hold cigarettes and compartment. Comes with the original silver funnel to fill the perfume. Hallmarked in many spots. One of the hallmarks are the initials "LA". Marked .935 silver in several different places. Inside also has a small mirror. Everything on the case/purse opens and closes as it should. The stopper on the side screws off and on as it should. The lipstick side button does not lock the insert in. There is a small chip to the enamel of the lipstick as seen in the photos. No other chips, cracks or nicks to the enamel. This was sold at Nissel
Sikora in Vienna. In excellent condition for its age. No other issues other than the chip to the enamel on the lipstick. No cracks, no broken parts, no repairs, tassel is in great shape and there are no dents. The inner mirror has no chips or cracks but some discoloring spots from age. Color is great. The tassel measures approx. 3 3/4" long. The case/purse measures approx. 3 1/4" wide by 1 3/4". Total weight of the piece with the tassel and handle is approx. 200 grams. Glare spots are from the lights reflection and not on the actual item.

This exceptional antique enamel and sterling silver gilt compact mirror and scent bottle has a circular rounded form.
The anterior and posterior surfaces of the body are embellished with pale blue guilloche enamel, which reflects undulating concentric ring designs emanating from the centres.
The circular guilloche panels are encompassed with a chamfered borders ornamented with fine black hot enamel and incorporating stylised gilt silver leaf motifs.
This exceptional antique compact is fitted with a hinged cover, featuring a gold wreath design to the centre of the enamel panel and incorporating a rounded thumbpiece to the anterior surface.
This impressive compact opens to reveal the original integrated mirror and powder pad, in addition to the original gilded interior.
The upper portion of the body features a plain cylindrical neck, fitted with a screw fit cover, allowing access to the incorporates scent bottle.
This exceptional example of antique silverware is struck with the maker's/importer's mark to the thumbpiece, the sterling standard mark to the interior of the compact, in addition to the French import mark (swan); the swan mark was used to identify items such as watch cases, boxes and jewellery as being a minimum 800 standard silver (800/1000).
