About the Item
This antique silver and porcelain belt was made in Japan in approximately 1900 in the period Satsuma style. The belt is a series of hand painted medallions set in silver portraying Japanese flowers, landscapes, scholars and butterflies. One link has been removed by the previous owner, which could be attached if necessary for sizing. As such, the posted length can be extended by approximately another two and a half inches. Each medallion is marked on the back with a series of four indentations, but the specific maker could not be identified.
