A brass face-a-main Lorgnette, ca. 1870
A brass face-a-main Lorgnette.
These are 19th century hinged spring reading glasses designed in the early 19th century by the Frenchman M. Lepage. The glasses disappear double folded at the top of the stem. By pulling down (not on, but pull down) the button on the side of the stem, the glass pops open again.
The measurements are 16 cm high, 10 cm wide and 0.7 cm deep.
The weight is 33 grams
The glasses shows some age wear.
