Early 20th Century Maltese Silver Filigree Butterfly Brooch with Turquoise Cabochons
A finely crafted silver filigree butterfly brooch, dating to the early 20th century and most likely of Maltese origin, where filigree silverwork has a long and distinguished tradition. The wings are beautifully formed in intricate openwork filigree, set with five vivid turquoise cabochons that lend colour and charm to the delicate design.
The brooch is unmarked, as is often the case with traditional Maltese filigree, but tests as 800–900 grade silver. It retains its original brass pin and C-clasp fastening, both functioning well.
A lovely vintage piece, ideal for collectors of Maltese filigree or butterfly-themed jewellery.
