About the Item
A rare vintage « Bird » necklace in mute tones created by François Schoenlaub, for Guillemette L'Hoir Paris.
This necklace is circa late 1970's and stamped on the back.
The central motif features a pair of wings, each element of which is articulated in a very Egyptian Revival spirit with a gradient of tones that only Galalith can achieve, the link is semi-rigid.
This piece shows very little wear from usage and time, mainly on reverse.
Measurements (cm) : Total length 45 - central articulated pattern 15x5
In 1976, while working in advertising, François Schoenlaub discovered Galalith and began creating jewelry as an autodidact.
His work pays homage to the great creations of the past, notably those of Jacob Bengel, while drawing inspiration of the time with the aesthetics of the Memphis school.
Under the name of Guillemette L'Hoir - his partner's name -
Francois Schoenlaub met with great success and his creations made in limited quantities, all by hand, are part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris.
