Description:
A vibrant example of early American Art Deco design, this Mandalian Manufacturing Company mesh purse is a classic accessory from the Roaring Twenties, when such bags were cherished by flapper-era women for their portability and modern flair. Crafted in the 1920s, this piece features a delicately enameled mesh body in a symmetrical floral pattern rendered in red, green, and black over a cream-toned ground. The metal mesh links are individually painted, a testament to Mandalian’s reputation for colorfast, enamel-fired craftsmanship.
The purse is framed by a pierced silver-tone frame with intricate Art Deco detailing and a floral clasp, suspended from a stylized geometric link chain handle. The bottom is finished with a shaped point and a series of 13 elongated red enamel drop beads that sway gently with movement. The interior retains its original silk lining, now gently aged but intact.
