This elegant pair of antique French purses, crafted circa 1880, captures the delicate refinement of the Belle Époque period. Both are fashioned from fine black fabric and beautifully hand-embroidered with floral decor and scrolling ribbon motifs in soft pastel hues of blush, peach, lilac, white, and sage green. The intricate needlework showcases the exceptional craftsmanship of late 19th-century French decorative arts. Each purse is framed in gilt metal with ornate detailing. One features a classic kiss-lock clasp with rounded ball finials, while the other is fitted with a decorative push-button clasp adorned with a rosette medallion. Both frames are engraved with floral and foliate patterns and are finished with complementary chain handles. With softly ruched fabric creating gentle volume and visual texture, these purses were designed to complement formal attire of the period.
