About the Item
Sergio Bustamante Signed Sterling Silver Sun and Moon Link Bracelet, Mexico, 1980s
Dimensions: 7.5" L x 0.5" W
Weight: 32 grams
Marks: “925 MEX” and “DB-925” (Sergio Bustamante maker's mark)
A sculptural, celestial-themed bracelet by celebrated Mexican artist Sergio Bustamante, crafted in sterling silver. The piece features alternating links of expressive sun faces and crescent moons, each individually modeled with Bustamante’s signature surrealist features. The three-dimensional sun medallions radiate stylized flames, while the moons are cast with distinct facial features, gazing thoughtfully to the side.
This work is clearly signed with the Bustamante hallmark “DB-925” on the reverse of each sun element and also marked “MEX 925.” The bracelet fastens securely with a hidden hook-style clasp, consistent with mid- to late-20th-century Mexican artisan jewelry.
A superb and rare example of Bustamante's wearable art, this bracelet stands out for both its craftsmanship and its whimsical yet mystical iconography—perfect for collectors of Mexican modernism or celestial-themed adornments.
Further Documentation:
DB-925 MEX
This is a known signature mark associated with Sergio Bustamante’s sterling silver jewelry, especially from the 1980s. While Bustamante's earlier pieces are more often hand-signed in script, his workshop also used this cast mark ("DB-925") on limited production runs and studio editions.
In this bracelet:
"DB" is understood to reference "Diseños Bustamante."
"925" indicates sterling silver.
"MEX" is the country of origin (Mexico).
