About the Item

Silver French 19th-century penannular brooch set with cabochons of red coral and turquoise. A most interesting French made silver pendant and chain, clearly marked with the crab stamp, which indicates French provincial silver with a purity of .800 or above. This stylish piece of jewellery was most likely made for the French Moroccan market, which strongly influences its style. This decorative piece is made to the design of an ancient penannular brooch and could be worn this way if removed from the chain. It is a beautiful handmade piece of jewellery with an intricate construction of filigree type wire work with hand tooled decoration, brightly set with cabochons of red coral and turquoise. This most eye-catching collector's piece comes with a lovely period hinged case with a faux snake skin covering and a press button catch. This lovely chain and pendant are in excellent original condition with no damage or restoration. French circa 1880 Pendant height 8.5cm x width 3.7cm x depth 0.8cm Chain length 62cm
