About the Item
This vintage women's Tahitian graduated black pearl necklace is unmarked with respect to a specific maker, but is marked with European gold marks and believed to originate from Italy. The pearls are presumed to be cultured, but are nicely matched throughout the strand and have a strong opalescent lustre. The pearls are hand knotted and the ball style clasp has a built in safety design. The entire strand with the clasp measures 24 inches in total length, and the pears are approximately a quarter of an inch in circumference. This necklace is believed to date to the 1950s.
