Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this absolutely stunning Victorian 1880 Chessboard set complete with chess pieces, boxed checkers pieces, bridge scoring system and new old stock pack of cards
A truly stunning and highly collectable suite, this would have been an absolute must have for every English Gentleman's library or study, it is a compendium of sorts meaning you can play more than one game, the top section with all the holes in is for Bridge scoring which is a card game, the chessboard doubles up as a checkers board as well
All the pieces are hand turned from boxwood and oak, the checkers set has its own case which is original as well
Condition wise is period with a lovely well earned patina, the only damage is on the checkers box, otherwise the suite is perfect to my eyes and hands
