Offered is a collage featuring a typed letter signed by baseball’s Walter Johnson, a reproduction scorecard from the 1924 World Series, and a photo of Johnson in his uniform. All elements are framed and matted together in a custom-built frame.
The letter is dated November 7, 1925 and addressed to a Mr. Leo Bicher. In his letter, he explains how he missed the letter at first and will send a signed baseball to Bicher if there is another exposition in the future. An air raid warden's wooden gas rattle, later Bristol Bulldogs speedway rattle. This gas rattle is made from beechwood with a turned handle and in original working condition. The top is stamped 'ARP W. Clements & Son, 1939' with later painted speedway team colours. 'ARP' stands for 'Air Raid Precautions' and the rattle was used to give warning of a gas attack or during gas mask drills. During the Second World War the British government passed the Air Raid Precautions Act, requiring local authorities to ready themselves in case of an air attack, with the air raid warden being at the for front. The warning was given by holding the handle and spinning the rattle around, emitting a strong distinctive clacking sound, the 'all clear' signal was given by ringing a hand bell. After the war the rattles became a common sight in the hands of supporters at football matches or other sporting events, they were also used as bird scarers. This rattle has been painted red and black with gold lettering, possibly the 1950s, in support of the Bristol Bulldogs speedway team. A wooden star...

Eton College Presentation Rowing Rudder, Henley Royal Regatta.
An original presentation trophy rudder 'Henley Royal Regatta' with gold calligraphy and college insignia. This is the former property of J.G. Fremantle of Balliol College who was the cox. The college crest is of Eton College showing three lily-flowers, a single fleur-de-lys and a lion with the motto 'FLOREAT ETONA' (May Eton Flourish). We also have a second rudder of Fremantle's, Balliol College 1st Eight 1936, and would make a great companion.
