About the Item

c. 1920s-1930s; (likely) L. Schuler Co. - Chicago, IL Striking early industrial copper pressure vessel mounted on a black iron pipe frame. The cylindrical tank features riveted seams, dual pressure gauges, and multiple brass valves with intact handwheels, joined by a smaller secondary chamber and funnel intake assembly. Likely used for laboratory or small-scale manufacturing applications involving compressed air, steam, or chemical processing. Its original fittings and patinated copper surfaces reveal both its functional heritage and sculptural appeal-now reading as a remarkable industrial art object. Features a door panel that can be open and closed shut on one side, visible in photos. L. Schuler Co., active in Chicago through the early 20th century, specialized in custom fabricated brass and copper tanks, steam apparatus, and laboratory vessels for industrial and educational use.
