About the Item

A counter display vendor machine for candy by Columbus. This is an antique candy vending machine. The Columbus Model A gumball machine is an early and rare variant. The vending machine was crafted in Columbus United States by the Columbus Vending Company, back in 1935. Designed with industrial machine age patterns during the late art deco period with parts made up in solid cast iron, clear glass, aluminum and chromed steel. It is all original including the beautiful red and black decal. The iconic glass globe is in perfect shape with no chips or cracks. Fully restored to original specifications. Embossed globe, 1-cent coin operated and fully functioning with key. It was polished and cleaned time ago and now has a great original look to it. Works great on a penny. Display gorgeous and should be a great conversation piece. Columbus Vending Company The Columbus Vending Co. released 83 machines under his trade name, starting in 1908. The Columbus Vending Co. was based in United States manufacturing vending machines from 1908 to 1957. Was founded by Philip Vogel, Lewis Kuhn, and Frank Vogel. There's also a modern-day company called Columbus Vending, LLC, which focuses on providing vending services in the Columbus, Ohio region. Desk table lighter designed by Samuel E. Ghinn. This is a superb and very rare table desk semi automatic petrol lighter, created in Cincinnati Ohio by Samuel E. Ghinn, back in 1923. This lighter was manufactured at the S.E. Guinn Mfg. Co. with geometric patterns in solid polished brass. The ignition mechanism is semiautomatic, with a very unusual and complicate system. Guinn is best known for his distinctive automatic table and desktop Bell Lighters, Samuel Guinn was an important early American designer and manufacturer. Guinn's first lighter design was patented in 1917, an automatic ferrocerium sparking attachment for gas kitchen stoves. His first full automatic petrol lighter design was patented in 1923, more than three years before the more famous Ronson "one motion" design. Guinn patented several variations of his original lighter design during the mid 1920, reflecting both mechanical improvements and different design variations targeted for home and commercial use. Lighter production continued until the early 1930s when the company went bankrupt, Guinn passed away in 1935. This piece is very gorgeous with an outstanding look and great eye appeal.
