A very fine and large oval gilt bronze medallion depicting the portrait of King Louis XIV, the Sun King. It shows the figure in profile in relief, with his curly wig and Roman emperor's armor, surrounded by laurel leaves, intended to glorify the king.
Fine chasing and a beautiful gilt patina.In great condition. Late 18th or early 19th century
