About the Item
A delicate pair of handmade brass ladies magnifying wire rim eye glasses from the American Civil War era, circa 1860.
A unique pair of antique spectacles, cleverly designed with extendable temple arms for a perfect fit. The arms can be retracted for compact storage when fully closed.
The arms terminate with loops for attaching to a chain.
The glasses are hand engraved with the initials ED.
This pair must have been quite costly to have had made at the time.
A great looking historical conversation piece or decor item.
Use this pair to accessorize a desk, placed on an open book in a home library, or for use as magnifiers.
Measures: 4.5 in. L x 1 inch H when fully closed.
The arms are 4 in. L unextended, 6 inches L fully extended.
The lenses are 1.5 inches oval x 1 inch. H.
