About the Item

Very beautiful italian medallion plaque in gilded and patinated bronze decorated in the style of pieces from the Northern Renaissance period. The plaque is decorated with a scalloped edge and polychrome reserves of representations of nymphs as well as cabochon details of colored stones interspersed with figures of cherubs, putti, shells, fruits and flowers in fountains. In the center is a basalt-colored medallion containing a mythological scene of Greco-Roman inspiration with Gods and Goddesses, nymphs surrounded by an angel and a crocodile, framed by a knotted border of fleur-de-lis. With ring on the back for hanging 43 cm in diameter. Very pretty Roman-inspired decoration. Italy - Circa 1880
