About the Item

This is a large Greek style repousse oval metal plaque depicting a scene of a Spartan warrior trying to defend himself against two nudes warriors from another tribe. There are two shields standing at each side of them. There are also a Spartan helmet and muscle jacket armor in the floor. The Spartan warrior is holding a short sword in his right hand and it’s scabbard in the left hand. One of the other warrior is also carrying one in his scabbard, himself. Below them, there are something inscribed in Greek or other ancient alphabet. The border of the plaque is adorned with a relief pattern of a continuous gothic arcs with rings in the center alternated with arrows. Below it, there are a relief pattern of triangular arcs with tiny circles in the center. The plaque is inside a shadow box made of a wood base covered with black velvet and has an acrylic lid. Its measurement is: Height: 3”, length:15” and depth:11.25”.
