This is an antique North America map. A USA, framed lithography atlas engraving of the continent by JH Colton, dating to the Victorian period and later, circa 1860. Fascinating, large framed map of the North American continent Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Set within a quality, later frame behind clear, bright glass Shows the countries of Canada, United States of America and Mexico Resplendent with great mid-19th century detail, as compiled by Joseph Hutchins Colton Colton (1800 - 1893) was commissioned to draft up the map for the Clerks Office of the District Court, New York Coloured detail used sparingly to accentuate the map Dressed to the rear hanging wire for ease of mounting This is a superb antique North America map, presenting the continent as it stood in the 19th century with fine detail.
