This detailed map, titled "Geographiae Sacrae Tabula, in qua Terra Promissa in suas Tribus Partesq: Distincta," was created by Nicolas Sanson and published in 1705. It offers a reduced depiction of Sanson’s elder map of the Promised Land, carefully illustrating the division of the land among the Twelve Tribes of Israel. A highlight of this map is its elaborate title cartouche, which features a group of Biblical figures interacting in front of a smaller inset version of the map. The hand coloring emphasizes territorial divisions and geographical features, adding vibrancy and historical character to the engraving. Antoine d'Winter, a skilled engraver, executed the fine details visible in the cartographic representation and the decorative cartouche. This map was included in the Dutch edition of A. Phérotée de la Croix's "Nouvelle Methode Pour Apprendre Facilement la Geographie Universelle," translated as "Algemeene Weereld-Beschryving." Published by Francois Halma, the edition featured 98 maps and views and was aimed at providing an accessible geographical, political, and historical overview.
