Bergantin Siglo XVIII is a vessel its mainsail is a large gaff sail, and sometimes an even larger square sail. In this case, it is called a round-hulled brig. It was used for coastal patrol, transport, mail, dispatch, and combat operations. It was characterized by its balance of firepower and high speed, maneuverability, and suitability for transport. Historically, it could accommodate around one hundred men and carry up to 24 artillery pieces; it also displaced up to 150 tons. It could sail in a variety of conditions.
