A finely crafted antique French cabinetmaker’s wood sampler, presented as a sphere mounted on a square pedestal base. The base features a custom metal plaque identifying each wood species used in the sphere, with corresponding numbered references for easy recognition. The sphere features 13 types of wood species. The based is marked ' Merelle a Gamaches, Somme'. This sampler also serves as a 'chef-d’œuvre'—a demonstration piece showcasing the maker’s skill, mastery, and technical artistry.
