About the Item
1910s; Premier Vaccum Cleaner Co. - Cleveland, OH
The Frantz Premier vacuum, also known as "the broomstick," was an electric sweeper designed by James B. Kirby, who would later become an established name in vacuum cleaners. This is the salesman sample that started a revolution in home cleaning. Kirby was a tenant of the Frantz brothers, and in 1907 Kirby created a motor-driven lightweight, portable electric cleaner with a dust bag and long handle. The Frantz brothers developed multiple companies with Kirby's inventions, and through them, James Kirby developed a close relationship with the Scott Fetzer manufacturing company who ended up making Kirby the name we know today.
