French Empire Mahogany Miniature Chest of Drawers with Marble Top, circa 1810–1820
Charming and finely proportioned miniature chest of drawers in mahogany (Swietenia mahogoni), dating from the French Empire period, circa 1810–1820. This elegant small-scale piece reflects the refined neoclassical taste of the era, translated into an intimate and highly decorative format.
The chest is fitted with three graduated drawers, each framed by delicate inlaid stringing that emphasizes the architectural clarity of the design. The warm mahogany veneers display a pleasing natural grain, carefully selected and arranged to enhance symmetry and balance. The original brass fittings—ornamental drawer pulls and escutcheons—are finely cast and retain a beautiful aged patina, contributing greatly to the piece’s authenticity and charm.
