About the Item
Set of 64 Collectible Models depicting the Scuderia Ferrari Historical Archive.
Made entirely in 1/43 scale by Brumm in Italy in the 1980s... and in fact it is those models from the 1980s that the collection stops at.
It belonged to a Designer from the same company who retired just in the late 1980s.
Each model bears under the body the historical, handwritten data of the model itself, the driver and the competition in which he competed with that car; as well as the year.
It is a collection valued at over 60 euros apiece.
Founded in 1972, the Brumm company began its business by producing miniature models of vintage carriages and then expanded production to steam vehicles and vintage cars, many of them sports cars, all strictly made in Italy.
Brumm, miniature styling for modeling enthusiasts in 1:43 scale.
The model to be reproduced is also chosen by consulting collectors. This is followed by bibliographic research of all existing documentation and research of the full-scale model, in museums or private collections, for a detailed photo report and on-site survey. Only rarely do houses send copies of the original drawings.
Brumm is particularly proud of its collaboration with the Fiat group, which, thanks to the Historical Archives, has always been very helpful and cooperative toward the historical memory of which each model is an expression.
Design:
Three-dimensional models are made from pine wood.
These models are later used for making resin casts for steel molds.
Mold:
The bodies and frames are made of zamak alloy (zinc, aluminum and copper).
The alloy is melted in a crucible at a temperature of 400 degrees, then injected under high pressure into hardened steel molds with a special die casting machine. This is followed by preparing them for painting through certain processes such as "tumbling," drying and hand deburring.
Painting:
The bodies, frames and some parts are painted in a "water veil" paint booth and then placed in an oven at a constant temperature for drying...
all done by hand using an airbrush.
