This is an extremely rare Promotional Advertising Train Model Display for the Trans Europ Express. At 27.5" long it's the perfect shelf or table top display for the travel connoisseur, the collector of train travel memorabilia, the romancer of times gone by, or of a Kraftwork music fan. The Trans Europ Express or Trans-Europe Express (TEE), was the premier first class international railway service of Europe, established so that a Business Traveler could go from the Netherlands to Italy and back in a single day and still have time for meetings and a meal. TEE connected the railways of West Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and the Netherlands. The train line, composed of diesel multiple units built by Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1957, was established by F.Q. den Hollander the former president-director of the Dutch railway company. It was an express only train that stopped in the major capitals throughout Europe. The romantic inspiration for multiple movies, books, and songs. Most notably, it was adopted by the German electronic music band Kraftwerk as the inspiration and title for their sixth studio album, released in March 1977. Kraftwerk's "Trans-Europe Express" album charted at 119 on the American charts and has been re-released in several formats; continuing to receive acclaim from modern critics who praise it as one of the greatest and most influential records of the decade. This display has a classic 1950's streamline profile. It is in good original (unrestored) condition with only minor chips and paint loss. Body is is composed of plaster, the original paint shows some authentic age but retains it's vibrancy.
