About the Item

Listen to soft, cheerful music in your living room with this traditional, antique music box. Crafted in Paris, France circa 1900, the tulip wood case with inlaid brass decor, has black painted edges and a hand painted floral motif in the center. The lever-cranked, glass-enclosed brass mechanism plays four songs, including "Las Colegialas", "Ignora", "Les Cloches de Corneville and "Tout a La Joie". The traditional music instrument is in wonderful working condition and has a nice patinated finish throughout the exterior. Key included. Signed on the bottom for further authentication and provenance: "Au Petit Saint Thomas, Paris". Measures: 12" W x 6.5" D x 5" H.

This beautiful antique jewelry box set was crafted in Paris, France, circa 1855. The box was made by Peret, a Parisian goldsmith, cabinetmaker and leather maker. Peret received a first class medal at the Exposition Universelle in 1855 (see engraving on the front). The box has an engraved crest on top with initials and crown, and several dividers inside. The compartments are outfitted with silver accessories, which include one square cut-glass bottle, two round glass bottles with silver tops and one rectangular cut-glass bottle. Inside the first tray, you'll also find two round powder glass containers with silver top, a long glass brush holder (brush included), a smaller rectangular shaving brush glass holder (brush included), all of them with a silver lid ornamented and finely chiseled with scrolls, shells and foliage, and a rectangular glass soap container with silver top. This is a lovely antique Swiss 10 airs Gonçalo Alves cylinder music box, manufactured by Langdorff & Fils, circa 1880. The case is inlaid and crossbanded with floral marquetry and banded decoration. The lid opens to reveal an ebonised interior with a glazed hinged cover showing the comb, and a paper label to the underside of the lid stating 'Fabrique De Geneve' Langdorff & Fils, Fabricants The music box has got its original tune sheet which is stamped: "No 24017 Fabrique de Geneve" and lists the ten tunes and composers.
