About the Item

A fully restored and working Swiss cylinder music box enclosed in a box of polished fruitwood featuring a central floral inlaid medallion on the hinged lid which opens up to reveal the musical mechanical movement. The rotating cylinder and winding mechanism can be set to play five different melodies. Cylinder music boxes of this type and of this era are not only beautiful pieces of decorative art but they produce unique and beautiful music as well. Most were made in Switzerland in the mid/late 19th Century
