About the Item

Biese Hof upright piano with an oak case. Entire cabinet features ornately carved, openwork panels in high relief backed with gold fabric. The front panel features a cluster of musical instruments surrounded by twisted vines, leaves and grapes. The side panels also features carved grapes, vines and leaves. Atop each piano cheek sits a carved cherub. On the left, a winged cherub plays cymbals and on the right a reclining cherub plays a horn. The piano legs are two carved griffins with lions feet and wings outstretched. The bottom panel features scrolling acanthus leaves and a central lyre. Intricate carved strapwork borders the cabinet edges. The carved, shield key escutcheon is embellished by scrolling acanthus leaves. Piano has an eighty-five keyboard. This cabinet is a true masterpiece of craftsmanship.
